The Legendary Tigerman and Festival PLAY

In the 1960s, a remarkable discovery was made at Cinémathèque de Toulouse in France: silent short films by an unknown, yet incredibly talented artist. These films presented elaborate and imaginative stop-motion sequences, unlike anything previously seen in American comedy. The creator, Charley Bowers, built animated marvels from gears and gadgets, household objects, and junkyard scraps.

This unique cine-concert features two of Bowers’s short films, accompanied by a live score by The Legendary Tigerman. The acclaimed musician, who has composed several soundtracks for Portuguese films, is primarily known for his guitar work. However, his approach to film scoring is much broader, incorporating modular synthesizers, piano, and any instrument he deems appropriate for sound creation. His soundtracks range from organic acoustic sounds, to deeply synthesised and complex arrangements, often featuring strings or brass.
