MOTELX

The 19th edition of MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival presents a vast terrifying programme with over 180 films.

The focus on the representation of women in cinema, the tribute to pioneering women in the entertainment industry, and the celebration of emerging female talent in contemporary horror are embodied in the Noémia Delgado Award for Outstanding Women in Horror. In its first edition, the award is given to Gale Anne Hurd, American producer of films such as The Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss. The Witches’ Ball series highlights the figure of the pagan witch and the rebellious woman.

International premieres include: The Ice Tower, by French director Lucile Hadžihalilović, starring Marion Cotillard; Opus, which premiered at Sundance and features Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, and Juliette Lewis; and A Useful Ghost, by Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke, which premiered worldwide at Cannes Critics’ Week, where it won the Grand Prix.
