Eduardo Gageiro

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of April 25th, Factum exhibits a wide selection of around 170 photographs by one of the most notable Portuguese photographers who followed ways of life, various personalities and events in the country’s recent history.

In Factum, it is possible to find some of the most relevant images from April 25, 1974, among other series of works that show the country in its various political, social and cultural vicissitudes, from the 1950s to 2023.

Seeking to show the ethical exceptionality of Gageiro’s look at different realities and opportunities, this exhibition highlights the importance of his images for a broader reflection on Portugal’s recent history and on photography as a factual index of reality, event and life.
