Club Makumba

Club Makumba gathers Tó Trips (guitars), João Doce (drums), Gonçalo Prazeres (saxophone) and Gonçalo Leonardo (bass and double bass), who together build a journey of free, spontaneous and tribalist sounds, traveling between Mediterranean sounds and an imagined Africa, without any bias or borders. In 2022, the band were on the road from north to south of Portugal with the self-titled debut album.

On February 29, Club Makumba will perform at B.Leza to showcase their second album, Sulitânia Beat. The first breakthrough theme from this work is already known, Maragato, defined by the musicians as “a song without time, without territories, or barriers – that transports us both to a hot night in the tropics and to a large metropolis”.
