Caixa Alfama

September is synonymous with Caixa Alfama. On the 26th and 27th, the streets, alleys, and lanes of Alfama, as well as the neighborhood’s churches (which become stages to host the music of Lisbon), will once again fill with people to hear fado. This year, the festival pays tribute to Maria da Fé, with a concert featuring the singer herself and performances by Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Camané, Jorge Fernando, José Manuel Neto, and regular host José Gonçalez, in a tribute that honors the legacy of one of fado’s greatest voices. Also noteworthy are performances by Gisela João, Katia Guerreiro, Helder, and Pedro Moutinho, among many other established and emerging names. Full programme here.
