(…) Entering the “houses” of Visconti, Howard Hawks / William Faulkner and César Monteiro, letting us be dazzled by their dazzling beauty, which makes our imagination come alive. These works that hit us hard, make our hearts tremble several times, we miss them. They are the ones who build us and that is why we return there. Ever.
They are films of our lives, and we all have, or are beginning to have, stories of them to tell. From Visconti’s genius to Howard Hawks’ fruitful relationship with writer William Faulkner, who worked in Hollywood from 1932 to 1954, and wrote more than 40 screenplays. They didn’t always agree, they say they argued and even got angry, but they gave us masterpieces like “To Have or Have Not” and “The Big Sleep” (the films that brought Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart together) or “Land of the Pharaohs” (…)
