Walking Mad/ Cacti

The National Ballet Company (CNB) premieres “Walking Mad / Cacti”, a programme with two contemporary works by swedish Johan Inger and Alexander Ekman.
Walking Mad by Johan Inger was created in 2001 for the Nederlands Dans Theatre and is inspired by a quote from Socrates: “Our greatest gifts come to us in a state of madness”. The play’s scenography is an essential aspect of its conception.
Cacti, one of Alexander Ekman’s landmark pieces, is an affectionate and sharp deconstruction of dance, in which we are transported through humor. It consists of 16 dancers who create rhythms, together with four musicians on stage, becoming themselves instruments of an orchestra.
