The Powers of the Image
40 Years of Portuguese Center of Serigraphy

The exhibition celebrates four decades of Portuguese Serigraphy Center (CPS)’s commitment to the dissemination, publication and democratization of contemporary graphic works. Featuring a selection of 40 works, it focuses on the most recent editions, highlighting CPS’s vitality and capacity for renewal.
The exhibition paints a collective portrait of the technical, stylistic and generational diversity that defines the institution’s history. Júlio Pomar, José de Guimarães, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Pedro Calapez, and Sofia Areal represent the renowned artists. International art is translated by artists such as Ken Rinaldo and ORLAN, underscoring the global reach of CPS publications.
A section dedicated to artists associated with Portuguese surrealism, such as Cruzeiro Seixas, Mário Cesariny and Carlos Calvet, recognizes the importance of poetic and visionary gestures in graphic work. Urban art, with key names such as Vhils, Pantonio, Miguel Januário, Gonçalo Mar and Kruella D’Enfer, reflects the integration of contemporary visual practices and urgent social contexts.
Works by architect-artists such as Álvaro Siza, outsider art practices with Cláudia R. Sampaio, and frontier experiences such as the first silkscreen with augmented reality (by Leonel Moura) or the first three-dimensional work (Marisa Ferreira), expand the limits of traditional media.
