Lar Doce Lar (Home Sweet Home)
Santander has revamped the iconic Edifício dos Leões/Lion’s Building – the bank’s Pombaline-style headquarters – into a cultural venue that will host the most relevant artworks from its collection, as well as temporary exhibitions. The bank’s history is also displayed as the visit unfolds.
The opening of the new venue will feature the visual artist Joana Vasconcelos, who will bring together some of her pieces to showcase an exhibition titled Lar Doce Lar (Home Sweet Home) over the next few months. The exhibition is spread over the building’s three floors, as if it were a house. It comprises 16 works, including the Cinderella shoe (2007), the Brise couch (2001), the Mãe d ‘Água shower (2019), the Dentelle Piano #3 (2016), and the Carmen lamp (2001).
