Kris Davis Trio

Released in 2024, Run the Gauntlet marked Kris Davis’ return to trio recordings, after an absence of more than ten years in this format and a period in which she devoted herself mainly to the variable ensemble Diatom Ribbons.

Inviting bassist Robert Hurst and drummer Johnathan Blake into her new trio, the American pianist decided to pay homage to some of the key women pianists in her career (Geri Allen, Carla Bley, Marilyn Crispell, Angelica Sanchez, Sylvie Courvoisier and Renee Rosnes), in an album that is a salve of inventiveness and imagination in the language of the piano trio.
