LAFF – Lisbon Arab Film Festival
2025

The 2nd edition of LAFF – Lisbon Arab Film Festival returns. By showing a selection of recent and outstanding films, LAFF aims to contribute to the dialogue between cultures and offers a multifaceted view of contemporary Arab societies, which goes beyond stereotypes.
The programme features two films that were screened at the Cannes Film Festival: Promised Sky, by director Erige Sehiri, a drama about three African women trying to make a new life in Tunisia; and Aïsha Can’t Fly Away, the debut feature by Egyptian director Morad Mostafa, a thriller that follows a young Sudanese woman living in Cairo. Palestine is highlighted with From Ground Zero, a film by 22 different Palestinian directors. Also noteworthy are the drama Beirut Hold’Em, by Michel Kammoun, and the documentary Mother of All Lies, by Asmae el Moudir. Both directors will be present at the festival.
