Blackface is a musical lecture, a mix of stand-up and fantasy, satire and physical theatre, burlesque and documentary. Based on personal experience and the history of blackface as a racist theatre practice – from its roots in the US to Portuguese instances –, Marco Mendonça searches for the limits of what can be represented on stage.
