In Venezuela,Ohad Naharin once again highlights the technical quality of his dancers with a choreography whose sense of composition lies in a strenuous physicality, in which the rhythm and complexity of the artists’ movements create unforgettable moments. Venezuela depicts conflict and dialogue between bodies, but also between cultures, as suggested by the white sheets which at the beginning of the play are transformed, with the use of colors, into variants of the Palestinian flag. By using ecclesiastical music as the soundtrack of the first section, with light illuminating the stage, and, in the second segment, a combination of Arabic music and The Notorious B.I.G.’s rap, Ohad transports us to a specific sociocultural (and political) context which in the eyes of the choreographer still offers signs of hope.
