A Franciscan Convent for religious men from Província da Arrábida, built in the last quarter of the 17th century as part of the so-called national independence wars, by order of António Luís de Meneses, 3rd Count of Cantanhede and 1st Marquis of Marialva. It takes over one block in Bairro Alto. Highlights include the Chapel of the Lencastres, built by order of the executors of Veríssimo de Lencastre, the Kingdom’s Cardinal and General Inquisitor.
