Through the Female Gaze

Through the Female Gaze: Women and Work in Italy since the 1950s investigates how photography produced by women has confronted the world of work in contemporary Italy.
It presents over 100 images in an itinerary based on the archives of 18 artists and two collectives, together with a selection from the Donata Pizzi Collection presented with a site-specific projection, and prints from the archive of the UDI (Union of Italian Women) of Bologna.
The selection includes photographs by a constellation of women from different generations, brought together through their use of the photographic medium as an instrument of personal emancipation and political investigation: Paola Agosti, Marcella Campagnano, Lisetta Carmi, Liliana Barchiesi, Letizia Battaglia, Marilisa Cosello, Agnese De Donato, Collettivo Donne Fotoreporter, Nicole Gravier, Gruppo del Mercoledì, Allegra Martin, Gabriella Mercadini, Cristina Omenetto, Michela Palermo, Lia Pasqualino, Giada Ripa, Alessandra Spranzi and Francesca Volpi.
