Rigo 23
Globotomia
Globotomia, Rigo 23’s second solo exhibition at Galeria Quadrado Azul, showcases a suite of four works created in 2017. The works on display – a documentary video of a protest by members of three Guarani villages in the south of São Paulo, Brazil; a stone sculpture representing sacred territory; a basket container-sculpture; and a map-drawing made of India ink and embroidery that traces the evolution of a Guarani cry across European territory – were produced in close collaboration with local communities and individuals from a Far West less traveled by European curiosity, the southern hemisphere’s Far West, with which Portugal has close connections.
