Requiem for the Victims of Fascism in Portugal

A few days after the celebration of the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974, we’ll listen to a creation by Fernando Lopes-Graça, a composer who left a fundamental part of his work in the symphonic choral repertoire. The anti-fascist theme is present in numerous works by the author (namely in the songs), but this Requiem connects directly to the victims of the fascist regime, some of whom were friends of the musician. Premiered worldwide on July 27, 1981 at Aula Magna, this production resulted from a commission from the State Secretariat for Culture, and its first performance was directed by conductor Bystryk Rezucha.
