Portugal plays Sakamoto

One year after the death of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, Museu do Oriente hosts a tribute concert that brings together Rodrigo Leão, pianist João Vasco and Surma. Whether solo or as a member of the Yellow Magic Orchestra, Sakamoto explored genres ranging from classical to electronic music, including experimental music. He was also a composer of soundtracks for films such as Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983), The Last Emperor (1987) – which won the Oscar for Best Soundtrack, or The Revenant: The Reborn (2015). The show aims to celebrate the work and legacy of the Japanese composer, with artistic direction by João Salgado.
