Ghosted

Three supreme improvisers whose creativity pushes beyond conventional boundaries, Oren Ambarchi, Johann Berthling and Andreas Werliin have chosen to explore a common interest in the rhythm and circularity of music here, based on elements that simultaneously draw them towards jazz, experimental electronica and world folk music. The rhythm section settles into prolonged grooves that sculpt a transcendental sound with which Ambarchi, with the help of electronics and a guitar unwilling to sound like one, creates deliciously unexpected atmospheres. In Pitchfork’s enthusiastic review of their debut album, it was called “a carefully stripped down, psych-jazz sound where the groove reigns supreme”.
