(De) Colonial Act
Violence is in the genesis, the practice and the symbolism of an occupation process. But violence meets resistance, with different expressions and impacts. This exhibition aims to reveal and highlight various processes of resistance to Portuguese colonialism between 1926 and 1974, the period that is the object of this museum.
The exhibition (De) Colonial Act aims to contribute to the questioning of the colonial heritage in Portugal, particularly during the period of dictatorship, and to the valorisation of the experiences of anti-colonial resistance as determining processes for the self-determination and independence of the African peoples, but also for the overthrow of fascism in Portugal.
