Carmen in concert
Sunday Concerts

As one of the most performed operas of all time, Carmen is a case of unbridled success and its most famous arias are imprinted on the collective imagination. The ultimate masterpiece by French composer Georges Bizet tells the story of a gypsy woman who experiences love intensely and freely. This freedom demanded by the magnetic protagonist came up against the more conservative values of the second quarter of the 19th century, but she soon became a favourite among opera audiences. In this Sunday Concert, we hear orchestral versions of Bizet’s evocative music.
