La Bohème
Giacomo Puccini
The passionate and timeless story between two young artists living in the Quartier Latin of Paris in the first half of the nineteenth century is perhaps the most popular work of the entire operatic repertoire. Giacomo Puccini was inspired by Scènes de la vie bohème, a collection of short episodes written by Henri Murger that the usual librettists Luigi Illia and Giuseppe Giacosa turned into a poignant love story centered on the painter Rodolfo and the unfortunate Mimì.
La Bohème debuted in Turin in February of 1896 and, although little recognized by the critics of the time, it quickly succeeded on all the international stages. The performance will be directed by Arnaud Bernard in a production of the Opera of Zagreb and the musical direction will be entrusted to Diego Matheuz.
