Hedda Gabler

Almost completing their eighth decade of theatremaking, the Lisbon Players have left their mark on Lisbon’s theatre scene. The company is now making its debut at Teatro Variedades with an inescapable play, embracing the challenge of revisiting an iconic text with their usual boldness. To this space, they bring with them the intensity and subtlety of Henrik Ibsen by the hand of director Miguel Jesus.

Hedda Gabler, first published in 1890, brings us one of the greatest female roles in theatre history. Rich and married, poor of spirit and full of reason, playing with everyone else’s fate and trapped inside her own doll’s house. Hedda is bored and wants to shine.

Show in English with Portuguese subtitles.
