Romeo and Juliet

The idea for this new production was born from the desire to continue working on the remaking of the big classics, like the work developed with “Swan Lake” and “Rite of Spring” by Daniel Cardoso, relating them to today’s live and today’s society. The choreographer will take on the challenge to present a new ballet inspired on William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”.

The plot of “Romeo and Juliet” takes us into the world of true passionate love that nothing, or no one can destroy. A kind of love that is blind, a kind of love that is so strong that could not even be overcame by death. How can this classic story be transposed to the present day? Transported to a time where egocentricity, selfishness and self-indulgence are the main focus in our lives?

“Romeo and Juliet” a piece that people relate to and recognized by most cultures worldwide as the finest of all love stories. Daniel Cardoso’s choreography along side with Sergei Prokofiev’s music aims to question the audience about the thing that is more precious in or lives and that often we forget about… love.
