Lumina Galeria will open with the exhibition Route 66, by Luís Vasconcelos. Created in 1995 by the photographer, Route 66 project was born from the impulse to set off, inspired by Jack Kerouac’s On the Road and the melancholic soundtrack of Bagdad Café.

Behind the wheel of a Pontiac Catalina, accompanied by three friends, Vasconcelos left Chicago towards the endless horizon of the mythical “Mother Road.” His images transport us to a territory where road, dream and journey merge, revealing an America that is both real and imagined.

Amid desolate landscapes and improbable encounters, figures parade that seem to have stepped out of a film or a song: a rockabilly girl, a roadside Elvis impersonator, a gay pride parade in Los Angeles. Each photograph is a fragment of narrative, a memory in transit, where the camera becomes an accomplice to discovery.
