A year after visiting us with the memorable presentation of the fLuxKit Vancouver project, Darius Jones is back with Legend of e’Boi (The Hypervigilant Eye), the seventh chapter in his epic Man’ish Boy series.
In this resounding exploration by Jones accompanied by Gerald Cleaver and Chris Lightcap, with five new songs and an arrangement of No More My Lord (a prison song recorded by Alan Lomax, responsible for the most complete collection of American popular music), the saxophonist addresses mental health of the black population and overcoming a collective trauma through therapy, community support and artistic expression.
