Foto Arte Ganesh
Goa, photography and memory

This exhibition showcases the extensive collection of Goan photographer Krishna Navelkar, known by his adopted name, Ganesh. His attentive and passionate gaze captured nearly forty years of history spanning from the end of Portuguese colonialism to the profound social and political transformations that shaped modern Goa.
Each photograph acts as a living testament and an echo of the past that resonates in the present, challenging forgetfulness. From bustling streets to silent gazes, from vibrant celebrations to political changes, Ganesh’s work is an invaluable archive that preserves fragments of a history that might have been irretrievably lost without him. Ganesh was not just a photographer; he was a chronicler of time, a lens that crossed decades to immortalise Goa, transforming fleeting moments into eternity.
