American Independent Cinema Cycle
Outsiders – American Independent Cinema Cycle returns to Cinema São Jorge from March 11 to 16, featuring a selection of 12 films by independent filmmakers that have never been screened in Portugal and have made a significant impact at the world’s most prestigious film festivals.
In this edition, the other is the central theme connecting the program. Highlight for Earth Mama, Savanah Leaf’s debut film about the difficulties of motherhood in a poor black community, which received the Outstanding Debut Award at the BAFTA. It is also worth highlighting Ghostlight, by Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson, a story of a construction worker who, when joining the production of Romeo and Juliet at a local theater, realizes that the performance is a reflection of his own life. The cycle also features the presence of director Paul Harril. The filmmaker, professor and programmer comes to Lisbon to present two of his films: Something, Anything (2014) and Light From Light (2019).
