Concerto Italiano
Monteverdi: Madrigals, Book 4

The group Concerto Italiano, created by Rinaldo Alessandrini, was founded in 1984. Their history overlaps with the history of the revival of primitive music in Italy. Monteverdi, Bach, and Vivaldi were the great composers upon whom the group renew the language of ancient music, revealing a new aesthetic and rhetorical aspect. In this concert, we will hear Monteverdi’s IV Book of Madrigals, in five voices, composed in 1603, with texts by Giovanni Battista Guarini, Ridolfo Arlotti, Torquato Tasso, among others.
