Jovens do Hungo e Bonga

Jovens do Hungo is a group originated in Luanda, dedicated to researching Angola’s folk music, such as rebita, kilapanga, kangoyo, and semba, which are precursors to kuduro, kizomba, and the many variations of Brazilian samba. In this rare performance, they are accompanied by several long standing guests, including the renowned singer Bonga. A concert that evokes the singer’s debut album, Angola 72, as well as a nod to the pioneering work of Lourdes Van-Dúnem and N’gola Ritmos, showcasing the cultural wealth of an artistic expression that has made significant contributions and continues to influence African culture and its diasporas.
