Expresso Transatlântico

2021 witnessed the birth of one of the most interesting projects on the current musical scene: Expresso Transatlântico. This Lisbon band brings together Gaspar Varela on Portuguese guitar, Sebastião Varela on electric guitar, and Rafael Matos on drums. The group released their eponymous debut EP at the end of last year, receiving high praise from audiences at home and abroad.
It was between Lisbon and the United States that the group’s first ideas were born. Gaspar Varela was on tour with Madonna, while his two companions sent him the first “chords” on that transatlantic trip.
With a sound influenced by the rhythms of popular Portuguese, Brazilian and African music, the debut work of these young musicians, featuring six songs, is the soundtrack of a Lisbon with a view to the world.
