José Capela

Windows is an installation about the act of seeing and the mechanisms of representation which create and condition the act of seeing the stage – somewhere between the tradition initiated by the invention of perspective and the contemporary condition of pictures. The represented scenarios were created by José Capela (artistic director, with Mala Voadora’s Jorge Andrade), while the W: JC + JCD catalog brings together photos of these scenarios taken by José Carlos Duarte over the past 11 years, often produced from photographs of his own. The installation has now been adapted to Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga’s themes and space.
