Corpo Clandestino
Victor Hugo Pontes
Corpo Clandestino is the arena where seven performers are given a voice. Using their bodies to convey identity, Ana, Andreia, Gaya, Joãozinho, Mafalda, Paulo, and Valter create images we cannot forget, and tell us things that maybe we didn’t expect to hear.
Corpo Clandestino is an exercise in dislocation and reconfiguration: the stage becomes a setting for what usually has no place on a stage; attention is readjusted; body parts are fitted together like puzzle pieces. Given the spotlight, nonnormative bodies present the viewer with a corps de ballet that shuns ideals or classical standards. They are a sole body made of seven unique pieces.
Corpo Clandestino rethinks body norms through an alternative path where we can communicate and share unencumbered by reductionist, standardized, useless views.
