Construir o Nada Perfeito
Cycle of celebration, of the Cruzeiro Seixas centenary
Cruzeiro Seixas, the last Portuguese surrealist, would have been 100 years old in December. In order to celebrate the centenary of his birth, the Perve Gallery organized a Celebration Cycle, but the artist died last November. Nevertheless, it is still possible to visit two of the exhibitions included in this tribute. Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny presents Construir o Nada Perfeito, an anthological exhibition that marks the 70th anniversary of the first exhibition Os Surrealistas, which took place in 1949 in Pathé Baby, near the Cathedral of Lisbon. Organized by the anti-surrealist Portuguese group, founded by Cruzeiro Seixas and Mário Cesariny, the historical shows a split with the original French surrealist movement, founded by André Breton, and begins a kind of revolution., constituting a landmark in modernity in Portugal.
